Introducing a cute new bonnet pattern from Twig + Tale
I got to test the new twig + tail bonnet pattern the past couple weeks. I upcycled a wool skirt of mine for the outer (what was I thinking - I HATE wearing skirts!) and a sweater for the lining that just never did fit right.
I love the amazing size range this pattern has in it from newborn to ladies!
And it has SOOOOO many options for ears to no ears or even classic embroidery and even a peaked cap option!
The pattern also has a lot of options for straps. button/snap, ties/ self ties/ no ties...
Each blog will be hosting it's own giveaway for the pattern they have chosen to feature during the tour! So be sure to check out each stop!
What are you looking forward to sewing for the holidays?

Meet my latest pattern: Little Long Stocking Dolly
Squared bottoms help for sitting and positioning your dolly.
Several hat design options - and of course you can get fancy with hat decor!
How much you free motion applique is up to you! One tester didnt use any free motion applique as she didn't have the quilting foot.
The perfect size for littles and to grow with the child and for play!
You can read more about "Lemon" HERE at Paisley Root's blog!
Cookie n' Bees made the dress and dolly match for a special occasion!
Zoe had a lot of fun playing with this pattern and did many of the hat options!
and even WINGS!!! (which will be in a fairy tale add on pack coming up!)
and the pattern includes ideas and options for a boy version as well! Sewing a la Carte didn't use any free motion applique on her adorable boy doll!

I LOOOVEEEE when a fabric combo makes me feel excited for the next season; today I have achieved that. I'll always miss summer when it is not summer... But for now, these outfits have me OK with it being fall. (I'll still cry when it snows).
This fabric is from the upcoming Hotel Fredriksted line by Jennifer Paganelli. Lucky for me JP sent me some fabric to play with before it release (in November - unlucky you waiting so long!)
This fabric is the wonderfully colourful, gorgeous florals, and buttery smooth quilting cotton drape and feel you have come to expect from Free Spirit and Jennifer Paganelli.
The patterns I used are the Little Lizard King animazing suspender skirt pattern by the lovely Cassie. Great pattern with many options included for all sorts of cute animal faces and different strap options.
The top is the Sis Boom Leighanna peasant top pattern, which is my fav peasant as it has a more narrow and less boxy fit than most peasants as well as plenty of options.
I hope you've enjoyed this preview of Hotel Fred! Please leave me a comment letting me know what you think of the fabric pairings or your favourite thing abotu season change!

What's up you ask? Back to school season... All the 15C paper packs make my heart happy. I love buying new pencils and crayons and all the gluesticks.... Though as you know I use gluesticks a LOT when I sew .... and all that cheap tape. Makes a sewist's heart sing. But what strikes fear? Sewing the perfect back to school first day outfit that captures a bit of your kids personality but still looks cute, but not sooooo simple that reads sign me up for sewing felt costumes.
Welcome to my stop on the blog back to school tour! PS - CONTEST and etc at end of post and some AMAZING sale codes!
Today I am showcasing the brand NEW from Little Lizard King Double Scoop dress on my youngest, Cheeks. She is sooo excited to finally be (almost) 4 and heading off to preschool this fall! She loves anything to do with horses and Sheriff Callie.
I absolutely adore the scallop collar option on this pattern, and the scallop pockets are perfect for recess treasures! The pattern has options for all the sleeve lengths (or none) and scallop or plain waistband, plain or no collar as well.
Of course my little goof had to have a Sheriff Callie dress, so waistband skipped because she didnt want Sheriff Callie or Deputey Peck to get blocked. The dress buttons in the back, but I don't anticiate her havign to take it off during the school day, so that is no bother. I did snaps on the back of mine.... I know I know... snaps look cheap etc etc.... BUT they also do not tangle hair like buttons do!
For the second outfit, my oldest, the 1st grader! She LOOOVES Minecraft!!! So I interfaced a knit panel (so it would act like a woven) and pieced together fabric to cut out a Sisboom Tobago!
I added the Sisboom Sophie sleeves - which fit perfectly with just a teensy buit of gathering along the top middle. I also added a elastic casing at the waist and a lightly gathered skirt bottom with strip of fabric and pocket because what 1st grader doesn't want a nice big front pocket?
and now she is all ready to go! Her pocket can fit a notebook and has a narrow pocket sewn in for pencils to go with. The dress is perfect for play and showing off her pretty green eyes and fun gaming personality!
What will you be sewing for back to school?
